Is My Step Count Accurate?
August 11 2022 8:13pmThe pedometer feature in our devices use an accelerometer to measure your movement in 3 axes (X-axis, Y-axis and Z-axis). The sensors are continually collecting data from each axis and then runs through an algorithm to confirm what is a step (and what is not).
Your device is always counting steps although they won't register on-screen until a minimum number of steps have been counted (typically 15 or more). That is to ensure it doesn't misidentify certain types of movement as steps; activities such as rolling over in bed, washing dishes or clapping your hands.
For more accurate step counting, wear your watch snugly but comfortably and 1-2 finger-widths above your wrist bone.
Monitoring steps will help you reach broader fitness goals but remember that the most important thing is to develop healthy habits; whether your goal is 5,000, 10,000, or 15,000 steps a day.
